CONCORD AT A GLANCE
Overall Record: 7-2
MEC Record: 6-2
Home Record: 3-1
Away Record: 4-1

THE SENIOR GAME
Among the players that have been with the Mountain Lions either four or five years are running back Kris Copeland, defensive lineman Dajor Davenport, linebacker Tylen Folwer, defensive lineman Nathan Lease, linebacker Ty Maust, offensive lineman Davis Roberson and defensive back Davon Williams. Roberson is among the most veteran players on the Concord offense having appeared in 37 career games. Lease is the most experienced player overall as he played in one more game than Roberson. The Kings Mountain, North Carolina native needs one more tackle for loss to eclipse 20 in his career. Lease had a tackle for loss versus Wheeling—the second straight game with a TFL. Fowler is 22 tackles away from 200 for his career, and like Roberson has 37 career games played.

MOVING TO THE TOP
Saturday's win over Wheeling was another record-setting afternoon for senior quarterback Jack Mangel as he threw for seven touchdowns—a Concord record and an MEC-record tying performance. Mangel tossed for 361 yards on just 17 completions. The 21.2 average on passes from Mangel was a single-game CU record. The 32 touchdowns that Mangel has thrown this year are the most in Division II, four more than Shepherd's Tyson Bagent, who was coached by head coach Dave Walker at Martinsburg High, and McKendree's Turner Pullen. Junior wide receiver Jarod Bowie hauled in three of the Mangel touchdowns, including a 59-yard pass on the first play from scrimmage in Saturday's game. Bowie leads Division II in receiving yards (1,332) and is tied with Marquis Gray of Southeastern Oklahoma with receiving touchdowns (14).

RECORDS ON THE LINE
With three touchdowns, Bowie tied Thomas Mayo's single-season program receiving touchdown record from 2010. Bowie is also within reach of Mayo's single-season receiving yards record from 2009 when he put up 1,369 yards. The MEC record for single-season receiving is held by Shepherd's Billy Brown who posted 1,580 yards in 2016. After his outburst on Saturday, Mangel is one touchdown away from tying Brian Novak's 2014 record for touchdown passes. Mangel is also fixing to record the third 3,000-yard passing season in program history, and the first since Novak's 3,700-yard season in 2014.

JACK OF ALL TRADES
Copeland put together one of his best games in the Maroon and Gray Saturday afternoon as he scored a career-best four times (three receiving, one rushing). Copeland had the four touchdowns on just 70 offensive yards. The Summerville, South Carolina native has 711 yards of offense this year (516 receiving, 195 rushing). After catching three touchdowns versus Wheeling, Copeland moved into fifth in the MEC in receiving touchdowns with six. Copeland has scored 10 touchdowns this year (six receiving, three rushing, one kickoff) with seven coming in the last three games. And in those three games, Copeland is averaging 198.3 all-purpose yards per contest.

EVERY LEVEL
The Mountain Lions got contributions from each defensive position group on Saturday. Davenport notched two sacks on back-to-back plays in the third quarter to move into third place in program history with 14.5 sacks. The Clifton Forge, Virginia native moved into third in the MEC in sack with 6.5 in 2022. Maust backed up his 16-tackle performance at West Virginia State with 14 more stops versus Wheeling and his first career interception that set up a CU second-quarter touchdown. Meanwhile, the CU secondary was stellar as sophom*ore defensive back Kevin Howard ran an interception back 81 yards for a score, Concord's second defensive touchdown of the season. Additionally, Concord had a season-high six pass break-up, including two from graduate defensive back Michael Sawyer Jr. as he moved into a tie for fourth in the MEC in PBUs with nine.

COMING ON STRONG
The Mountain Lions had three first-time starters on the defensive side of the ball in sophom*ore linebacker Jordyn Bentley, Howard and redshirt freshman defensive back Trennon Mitchell. Howard aided the pass break-up frenzy with a PBU to go with his interception. Bentley racked up five tackles and his first career tackle for loss. Mitchell added six tackles on the back end of the Concord defense. In limited action for Bentley at the weakside linebacker spot, graduate linebacker Vonte Pannell had four tackles and his first career sack.

START OF SOMETHING
In the only previous meeting between Concord and Alderson Broaddus, the Mountain Lions left Philippi with a 23-10 win last November. Sophom*ore running back Kevon Young-Warren rushed for two touchdowns in his first significant action of his true freshman season. CU's offense only managed 243 yards in the win, but the Concord defense was tough as it limited the Battlers to 149 yards. Mangel threw for 202 yards, but did not have a touchdown in the game. The road win at ABU was the start of a six-game winning streak that carried over into this fall.

GETTING TESTED
CU's passing defense is coming off one of its best games of the season as Wheeling threw two interceptions and Concord's defense tallied the six PBUs. The Battlers average just over 200 yards per game in the air (204.9), but ABU possesses one of the biggest deep threats in the conference in Marvin Sims. Of qualified players, Sims owns the best yards per catch average in the MEC, 22.0, as his 705 yards rank fourth in the league—on just 32 receptions.

TACKLING MACHINES
With 30 tackles over his last two games, Maust has rose to tie for first in the MEC in tackles with 95 this season, locking him up with Notre Dame's Nathan Moore. Saturday's game will also feature two of the MEC top tackers on the AB sidelines in the Schweinefuss's. David (91 tackles) and Michael (75) rank fourth and seventh in the conference in tackles. With five more tackles, Maust would become the first CU player with 100 tackles in a season since Zach Malone piled up 106 stops during the 2017 season. And Maust's 41 tackles over the last three games are the most for a Concord defensive player since Jake Lilly made 42 tackles against Liberty, Fairmont State and West Liberty during the 2012 season.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
4- A win Saturday would be the most home wins for Concord since the 2015 team went 4-1.

15- Games between two-interception contests for the CU defense dating back to last season.

115- Bowie moved in ninth all-time on the receptions list at Concord with 115 after nine catches versus Wheeling.

SCOUTING THE BATTLERS

Skinner has the most attempts (137) while Jaylen Tregle has attempted 100 passes. The quartet of quarterbacks for Alderson Broaddus have combined for 15 touchdowns and 20 interceptions while only completing 37.9 percent of passes. ABU has the worst third-down defense in the MEC, allowing opponents to convert on 45 percent while Concord has the best third-down offense (46.3).
